What is Red Flag, Green Flag?

April 10, 2022 | Uncategorized

Red Flag Green Flag (RFGF) introduces the concept of care and respect for all bodies and parts of bodies, and encourages children to talk about the different kinds of touches they give and receive. It is a great start to having conversations about personal boundaries and body ownership.

The program also helps children to recognize potential harm or abuse, and identify trusted adult helpers they can talk to. By practicing the Red Flag Green Flag three-step plan for safety—Say NO!—Get Away!—Tell a Helper!—children feel more empowered to speak up and do something if they are ever confused, upset, or frightened by a touch or situation.

Did you know Red Flag, Green Flag was created by Rape and Abuse Crisis Center and has since undergone many revisions and is taught across all 50 states and multiple countries?

Rape and Abuse Crisis Center’s public educators teach RFGF to elementary aged students enrolled in public school systems across the Red River Valley during the school year.
