Take Back the Night Rally & March (seasonal)

Since the late 1970s, Take Back the Night events have been organized around the world by women’s shelters, college campuses, rape crisis centers, YWCAs, and the like to provide an opportunity for communities to speak out about the need for safety and empowerment for women. At its inception, Take Back the Night was about quite literally “taking back the night” and drawing awareness to issues of sexual assault and providing opportunities for women and men to reclaim what was stereotypically the most dangerous time to be out and about—night. Over time, Take Back the Night events have evolved to address not only issues of sexual assault, but those of domestic violence, dating violence and other violence against women. Take Back the Night events draw awareness, allow for communities to support victims, and mourn for those who have lost their lives due to interpersonal violence.
