The Rape and Abuse Crisis Center of Fargo-Moorhead (RACC) provides crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and education to male and female, child, adolescent, adult and elder victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child sexual abuse. All victim services are free and confidential and distributed on a nondiscriminatory basis. In addition to direct services to victims and families, the organization seeks to educate and inform the community on the prevalence of sexual and domestic violence in the area, the impact it has, and what can be done to make the community a safe place to work, play and live.
Throughout its 38 year history, RACC has been dedicated to its mission and has proudly served over 80,000 victims. In 2014, the 27 member staff served 2,854 victims, including 484 children, with the assistance of over 80 volunteers. Services provided include crisis intervention and sexual assault exam support to 86 victims in area emergency rooms and in receiving 138 emergency Orders for Protection. Staff reviewed 1531 domestic and sexual violence law enforcement incident reports, and 1058 victims from those reports were contacted to provide support and information on services available. In addition to direct service, the education team gave 900 prevention/ education presentations reaching 18,211 community members.
